We can't believe Lilly is 5 years old! She is such a fun, cute, good girl. Here are some highlights of her special day!
It was Lilly's 3rd day of Kindergarten when she turned 5. It was so fun to have her birthday land on a school day. We were able to bring some birthday treats into her class. It was fun for her to get some extra special treatment on her extra special day!
She got to wear a birthday crown!
She shared some treats with her class.
We thought it would be fun for her to "read" a book to her class. She chose her latest favorite Good Thing You're Not An Octopus! Her class LOVED it! She got to read it sitting on the special rocking chair at the carpet.
We think you'll enjoy it too:
After school, it was time to open presents!
Then it was time to make her cake. Lilly is such a good helper. And turning 5 marked the magic day where she's officially big and able to do EVERYTHING herself. (I don't know why she couldn't do things when she was four. Just one of those things that clicked in her own mind.)
She was very specific and wanted a Mickey and Minnie Mouse cake with a heart and rainbow sprinkles. So that's what she got!
The cake didn't turn out the way I planned. I just pictured it much more professional looking even though I've never taken a class or anything. I had to free-hand the Mickey and Minnie heads, which turned out pretty well, but I used the store-bought black frosting for the outline and I don't like how the lines are so thick. Oh well. I had a great idea to fill in the black ears with Oreo cookie crust crumbs. That part did work out well. (And it decreased the amount of gross black frosting.) When I finished, Lilly was thrilled! And Maggie kept saying things like, "Wow, Mom! That's beautiful!" so I guess it turned out alright. :)
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO OUR LILLY GIRL! WE LOVE YOU!

Happy birthday Lilly! She has quite the ability to memorize books! I remember that from when she was just a baby. Are you sure she isn't REALLY reading? I wouldn't doubt she could, she's so smart! :)
Happy birthday, Lilly!! I remember when she was born :) And I think the cake looks great!
