Maggie's 3rd Birthday!

We celebrated Maggie's birthday this past week. How did she get to be three years old so quickly? She is especially excited to be a "big girl." We love you, Maggie!

In the morning with all the presents!

Lilly is SUCH a good helper! ;)

This was the best smile we could get out of her. She absolutely
LOVES her new tutu, she's just not fond of getting her picture taken.
Thanks, Aunt Heidi, Uncle Mike, and Luke!

She's been wanting an Ariel birthday for months, but I thought a butterfly birthday was cuter (I know, I'm a horrible mom.) I compromised with making an Ariel cake on her birthday day, then having a butterfly birthday party with friends.

I had high ambitions to make a super awesome cut out cake of Ariel's head with piped frosting for her hair and face, but 4:00 rolled around and all I had done was bake the cake (from a cake mix, no less)! I got a great idea (a revelation, actually) to grab the 3D animation DVD card that we got from the Disney Movie Club, wrap it in plastic wrap, then slap it on top of the cake. She was elated! (Isn't it obvious from this pic?) And it only took about 90 seconds. Easiest cake E-V-E-R!

(I tried to post more videos, but blogger is taking FOREVER, so maybe I'll try again later...sorry!)

She had a butterfly birthday party, which turned out SO CUTE
(thanks to my mom's awesome ideas)!
Here are all the kiddos on the couch as we read
"The Very Hungry Caterpillar" by Eric Carle.

Getting ready for butterfly cookies. (I decided cake and ice cream isn't very dining-room-carpet-friendly, especially with a bunch of 2-4 year olds! Ha!)

Oh my goodness...she is so big! She is so BEAUTIFUL, too! I love the Ariel cake...why do we always feel like we have to go over the top when something simple works just as well? Way to simplify, Nikki. :) Happy birthday, Maggie!

Oh my gosh, that cake is seriously awesome. You're my hero. Because really I bet Maggie loved it just as much as she would if you would've sculpted a life-size replica of Ariel's head out of cake and fondant. This makes me feel good about my lack of cake decorating experience. :) And hey it really was cute!

Maggie is so old! I really cannot believe it. Time flies. Cute cute girls.

You know how to throw an awesome party! My kids had such a fun time!
I love Maggie! She always has such a cute smile! In Evie's ideal world I think she would play with Maggie everyday.
Happy Birthday Maggie!
